Just got off the phone with one of the DNRE reps and there is going to be a trail RE ROUTE on trail 4 between Gaylord and Lakes of the North because of some land control issues. It looks like the re route will effect the section from Hayes Tower Rd on into the Lakes of the North. The new trail route is not official yet but it looks like it will involve Mancelona rd, Tittabawassee trail, and Duck Lake. I am not posting this to start anything derogatory about the management of this section of trail or to start anything negative in any way, but I do want people to know that this is going on and will be a work in progress. At some time in the near future the effected section of trail will cease to be groomed.I would not say that it would be OK to ride the old section of trail but the reality is that it is private property that would need a complaint by the land owner (s) to have a ticket written, but again it is private property WITHOUT an approved trail so they do have that option. I am leaving in a bit for a weekend in the U P so will most likely not be able to post any further updates I get about this till Sunday. Be kind and ride safe.
